| | | FOUNDER'S CORNER | February 6, 2008 | | | | Name Change Website Launched We Need Your Help!
As some of you may know I have been working on a special project which is very important to me and hundreds of thousands of patients throughout the United States, called the Campaign for a Fair Name. This campaign is a grassroots patient and physician effort to replace use of the name 'chronic fatigue syndrome' with the acronym ME/CFS. And whether you're an ME/CFS patient or a supporter, your help right now is crucial to make this demeaning name and what it implies disappear forever. It's simple: - Visit the Campaign website afairname.org to read the history and the rationale for using ME/CFS to replace the name 'chronic fatigue
syndrome ' - as so eloquently expressed by leaders of the patient and medical community (our advocates). - Sign the petition indicating your support of the resolution to change the name 'chronic fatigue syndrome' to the acronym ME/CFS. We need your support to make this happen - please forward the petition to friends and family members.
- Begin using the acronym ME/CFS - or simply ME, if you prefer,
as I do - everywhere. - Spread the word about the May patient vote to ratify the name ME/CFS.
- Vote - If you are a patient please vote in May. You can even sign up for a reminder email that will be sent to you just prior to the vote.
Only your support and participation can make this name change a reality. So please help.
Sincerely, Rich Carson Patient Advocate
