In response to overwhelming requests from support groups everywhere to strengthen our collaborative efforts to conquer chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS), The CFIDS Association of America has developed The CFIDS Support network of America (CSN). The CSN is a support group member organization dedicated to providing information services to CFIDS support groups nationwide.
With benefits ranging from monthly updates to up to a 50 percent discount on educational materials, The CFIDS Support Network of America strives to provide support groups and their leaders with the foundation they need to be successful in their main objective: to conquer CFIDS. A forum for Network members to express their ideas, concerns and opinions is available through CSN FOCUS (forming one CFIDS voice throughout the United States), a quarterly newsletter of The CFIDS Support Network of America, designed specifically to address the needs of support group leaders.
Network, members will also have representation on the CSN Advisory Committee, a regional delegation of member-nominated and -elected support group ambassadors. This committee will be responsible for providing advice and guidance regarding Network activities on behalf of support organizations nationwide.
Already over 125 groups have taken the opportunity to form this network of active and dedicated CFIDS support organizations around the country. These are the savvy group leaders who realize that of the many strategies being discussed to further the effort to beat CFIDS, unification holds the greatest potential. This year the CFIDS Buyers Club will establish a fund for monetary awards to be given to CFIDS Support Network members in recognition of Excellence in Service to the CFIDS community. Details on eligibility for these awards will be announced in the next issue of CSN FOCUS, available exclusively to members of the CFIDS Support Network of America.
Those who have seen the value in joining the Network recognize that it will take our combined efforts to bring the information and resources together to strengthen our voice and educate the general population, the medical community and our government officials. CFIDS will never go away if we turn away from each other. And for that reason, we must unite the hands of thousands to form the voice of one.
